Whilst on patrol in Whitefield as part of Operation Wildstone, officers from the Whitefield & Town Center Neighbourhood Team stopped a vehicle after concerns about its condition on the road. Officers observed the driver using a mobile phone whilst driving. When stopped, the driver admitted he had been sending a text message. Further checks of the vehicle revealed significant defects, and a Roads Policing officer subsequently issued an immediate prohibition notice, deeming the vehicle unsafe and unfit for use on the road. As a result, the driver has been summonsed to court for: ✅ Using a handheld mobile phone whilst driving The vehicle was also prohibited from further use on the road until the defects were rectified. Using a mobile phone behind the wheel can have devastating consequences. Even a momentary distraction can lead to serious collisions, life-changing injuries, or worse. We're also reminding motorists of their responsibility to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before setting off. Damaged or defective vehicles put everyone at risk and will not be tolerated on Bury's roads. Our officers will continue to proactively patrol Bury's roads, targeting dangerous driving behaviours and unsafe vehicles to keep our communities safe. #OpWildstone #RoadSafety #Fatal5 #DriveSafe #GMPBury #Whitefield #SaferRoads #PutThePhoneDown
